GREEN FUELS RANCH |
Algae as a Green Biofuel |
Algae may potentially be the key in sustainable green biofuel. Algae grows much faster and contains more energy per unit weight compared to other biofuels derived from crops. In order for the U.S. to produce HALF of its own fuel using current biofuel crops, it would need to convert 30-260% of its available agricultural land. Using algae, only 2% of agricultural or otherwise unusable land would need to be converted. Algae is the only logical choice at this time for North America to grow the bulk of its own fuel and becoming energy independent. Our long term goal is to establish efficient and productive methods of growing algae. This develop[ment would then aid the development of large scale algae production high in lipids which can then be converted to biofuels. The development of this production method would be part of the ongoing research while we produce a marketable product for the nutracdeutical market. |
